The Royal Society of Chemistry has a great permanent opportunity for a Digital Channels Assistant to join us.

About the Royal Society of Chemistry:

Chemistry is at the centre of everything you can see, smell, touch and taste. Whether studying the chemistry of life, or developing the advanced science behind modern technology, chemical scientists use their expertise to improve our health, our environment and our daily lives.

Collaboration is essential. We connect scientists with each other and society as a whole, so they can do their best work and make discoveries and innovation happen.

We publish new research. We develop, recognise and celebrate professional capabilities. We bring people together to spark new ideas and new partnerships. We support teachers to inspire future generations of scientists. And we speak up to influence the people making decisions that affect us all. We are a catalyst for the chemistry that enriches our world.

Our digital presence must act as an international shop window for the organisation, its products, services and work, attracting attention, inspiring involvement and creating the desire to take action among all our audiences, proactively managing and enhancing our organisational reputation.

About the role:

As a Digital Channels Assistant for the Royal Society of Chemistry you will be involved in all communications and marketing campaigns, focusing on a wide range of global audiences, helping us to target activity using timely, unique and relevant messaging based on preferences and behaviours, supporting both emotional and rational positioning to drive action and engagement.

Our award-winning Integrated Media Team includes our digital channels ‘centre of excellence’ for the organisation. We are looking for a Digital Channels Assistant to support colleagues across our Communications team, working most closely with our specialist Digital Channel Owners, to help us deliver excellent digital experiences to all our audiences.

What we are looking for:

  • Excellent attention to detail, numeracy, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with at least one of the following: social media channels (for business not personal use); website management; email marketing – would be favourable.
  • Efficient and highly competent in the use of standard software packages.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills are required, together with the ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines.

As an organisation we are embracing hybrid working, and home / remote working within the UK could be considered for this role. Applicants should be aware that there is an expectation that employees may be required to attend our Cambridge and London offices, which would occasionally be needed in this role.
