The Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) has a fantastic opportunity for a Digital Content Assistant to join us on a temporary basis for eighteen months.

Our Education Platforms, Publishing & Products team provides relevant and useful advice, resources, and practical support to educators and their students in schools, colleges and universities. We have over six thousand teaching resources and magazine articles on our main website at https://edu.rsc.org, as well as a small number of other microsites.

As a Digital Content Assistant for the Royal Society of Chemistry, you will work within our Education Platforms, Publishing & Products team to improve our online content to make it more discoverable by our target audience and search engines, and more useful, attractive and easier to understand to those who visit our website. You will help us ensure our award-winning chemistry teaching and learning support reaches those who need it. This involves uploading, editing, checking accuracy, categorising and organising content within our content management system (CMS), checking and editing the structure, layout, and metadata of pages, correcting and updating downloads, working with third party websites to update links to our content, using search engine optimisation principles and tools to improve our site, and building pages using CMS tools to implement our designs for an improved user experience.

You will have:

  • Some experience working with web-based content or digital content publishing.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as an effective team member.
  • Ability to deliver repetitive or routine tasks reliably and provide creative input when needed.
  • A-level or equivalent in chemistry or other science.

As an organisation we are embracing hybrid working and the contractual base for this role can be our Cambridge or London office, or homeworking/remote working in the UK could be considered for this role. Applicants should be aware that there is an expectation that employees will attend the office as required for their role.
