The Royal Society of Chemistry is looking for a Digital Content Intern to work in our editorial office, on a three month project, starting in March/April 2017. Working with our editorial team, you will support migration of the magazine onto a new online platform, ensuring that digital articles are presented to a high standard and are appropriately located with the magazine’s information architecture. You will check the presentation and layout of published articles, editing articles within our content management system, and categorising content on the site.

You will also gain experience working for our publication: Education in Chemistry, our magazine for chemistry teachers in secondary, further and higher education. Sent to schools, colleges and universities in the UK and Ireland, it provides a variety of content through print and digital channels, including news, features, opinions and teaching guides to support chemistry teaching.

We are looking for:

Essential:

  • Working knowledge of HTML.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as an effective team member.
  • Focus in delivering reliable outputs on routine tasks.
  • An A-level in chemistry or other science.

Desirable:

  • Competent proofing/editing skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of content management systems.
  • Degree in chemistry or other science.
  • Understanding of information architectures and improving user experience.

If you are available for twelve weeks from March/April 2017, please apply as soon as possible before the end of the closing date with your CV accompanied by a covering letter outlining your relevant knowledge, skills and availability.
