We are seeking an Organic Chemist to join our manufacturing centre of excellence based in Church Stretton, on the outskirts of Shrewsbury, Shropshire.
This is an opportunity to join an expanding technical team demonstrating marketing leading quality and innovation in the production of liquid chromatography, peptide synthesis and clinical and diagnostics consumables for a rapidly growing Biopharmaceuticals market sector.
Working on site within the technical team you will have the ability to make a real difference to one of Agilent’s most prominent consumables businesses. As an organisation we have embraced 6-sigma and Lean Manufacturing methodologies making for an engaging and rewarding mix of scientific discovery, process improvement and employee growth and development.
You will be working as part of a multi-discipline, cross-functional team and your key responsibilities will include:
• Work with production teams to analyse and troubleshoot existing production methods
• Identify, design and implement production efficiency improvements
• Scale existing processes to be able to meet rapidly growing market demands
• Produce validation reports and statistical analysis that document process changes
• Connect with industrial trends and new technologies to determine how these can integrate into existing processes to give competitive advantage
• Represent the local team as part of global, cross disciplined project teams on new product introductions
• Execute and support Management of Change control processes, determine the disposition of non-conforming materials, and create and execute preventative action plans to improve safety and quality.

Qualifications
We are looking for a motivated individual with the following background:
• University Degree in Organic / Polymer Chemistry or equivalent
• Hands on laboratory experience in process optimisation, scale up and technology deployment around organic and/or polymer chemistry.
• Any project management experience would be a strong plus
• Proficiency in data analysis statistical tools and software is desired
• Experience of working in the Chemical Process industry and relevant tools (HAZOP, HAZID, Risk Assessment) would an advantage
• Knowledge of Comprehensive Quality System would be preferable

You also have great communication skills to interact with both internal and external partners. You enjoy both working within a team and autonomously. You are also capable of taking ownership and leading a variety of projects. Finally, you possess a continuous improvement and digital mindset.
