Senior Materials scientist/engineer required for role in the northwest. Previous experience within advanced materials science will be necessary

R&D Leader (Materials)

St Helens (commutable from Liverpool, Manchester, Warrington and surrounding areas)

Salary - £42,000 - £50,000 (depending on experience)

SRG is working with a leading UK manufacturer specialist rubber and glass material products. Based in the St Helens, they have recently started hiring for a new member of their team due to an internal promotion. This is a great opportunity for a senior chemist or engineer with a background in polymers and materials. You will join a growing team in a fast-moving lab environment with a wide range of specialist materials testing equipment. Applications are welcome from individuals with previous industry experience. Experience in a leadership role will be needed for the upper end of the salary scale.

Role Description
  • Co-ordinating, developing and engineering high performance glass and carbon fibre products for use in various commercial industries such as automotive and construction
  • Liaising with customers and suppliers to ensure quality of products
  • Formulating, physically testing and tweaking materials to improve quality
  • Providing technical leadership in an advanced materials R&D environment
  • Adhering to safety standards and Working safely in a fast-paced lab environment




Requirements
  • A degree in chemistry, materials science, engineering or a related field (PhD preferred but not essential)
  • Experience in physical property testing of materials (preferably from industry)
  • A background in leading more junior members of staff in an industrial laboratory
  • Experience within formulation or materials development would be an advantage.
  • Full right to work in the UK.
