Business Administration Apprentice – Level 3 – Commercial Innovation and Professional Practice

The Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) have an exciting opportunity for a Business Administration Apprentice to join our Professional Awards and Accreditation Team.  You will join us on a full-time fixed term contract for 18 Months working towards a full level 3 Apprenticeship, which will include an opportunity to study an NVQ qualification (Level 3 BTEC diploma for Business Administrators).

The Level 3 apprenticeship standard is an Advanced Apprenticeship, equivalent to 2 x A level passes.  The apprenticeship will follow an approved training syllabus provided by an external learning provider.  To help you complete your apprenticeship 6 hours a week will be dedicated to your off the job learning.

During your apprentice studies you will be working closely with your colleagues, who will guide and support you as you develop further within the role.


What you will be doing:

Reporting to the Vocational Skills Programme Manager you will provide key administrative support associated with the day-to-day operations of the professional awards, accreditation, and vocational skills teams, working efficiently and in accordance with established procedures and methods of working, whilst providing excellent customer service

At the RSC we embrace flexibility and offer hybrid working, which means our teams come together when they need to collaborate. This is a role is full-time opportunity. What we are looking for:

We are looking for someone who enjoys and thrives working in a team environment, who is highly organised, pro-active and can work on their own initiative.     


You will also have the following:

  • GCSE Mathematics and English at minimum level 4. GCSE Science at minimum level 4 is desirable.
  • Demonstrable appreciation of the importance of chemical science as a tool to make the world a better place. 
  • Excellent competency in the use of software packages associated with PCs.
  • Excellent time-management skills together with the ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills in interacting with internal and external contacts from around the world are essential.
  • Ability to work independently to follow established processes, while knowing when to seek support.
  • Ability to identify gaps in knowledge and seek out opportunities to fill them.
  • Ability to handle work of a confidential nature.
