Materials scientist/engineer required for role in North Cheshire. Previous experience within advanced materials science will be necessary

R&D Technologist (materials)

St Helens (commutable from Liverpool, Manchester, Warrington and surrounding areas)

Salary - £30,000 - £40,000 (depending on experience)

SRG is working with a leading UK manufacturer specialist rubber and glass material products. Based in the St Helens, they have recently started hiring for a new member of their team due to an internal promotion. This is a great opportunity for a chemist or engineer with a background in polymers and materials. You will join a growing team in a fast-moving lab environment with a wide range of specialist materials testing equipment. Applications from graduates are welcome and individuals with previous industry experience would be considered at the upper end of the salary scale.

Role Description
  • Developing and engineering high performance glass and carbon fibre products for use in various commercial industries such as automotive and construction
  • Liaising with customers and suppliers to ensure quality of products
  • Formulating, physically testing and tweaking materials to improve quality
  • Using techniques such as wet chemistry, rheology, and FTIR in the laboratory
  • Adhering to safety standards and Woking safely in a fast-paced lab environment




Requirements
  • A degree in chemistry, materials science, engineering or a related field (PhD preferred but not essential)
  • Experience in physical property testing of materials (preferably from industry)
  • Ability to travel or relocate to the North Cheshire area
  • Experience within formulation or materials development would be an advantage.
  • Full right to work in the UK.
