Innovation and Technical Manager

Our client is looking for a self-motivated and enthusiastic scientist to head up its R&D department.

About the Role:

• To be responsible for the management and development of the laboratory function in line with the company
• expectations.
• Line manage a small team of R&D staff including coaching and development.
• To drive R&D from idea generation to project completion.
• Customer technical support from time to time when required.
• Regular reporting of R&D activity to senior management.
• To be commercially aware and be able to focus on goals that will support the business strategy while leading their team to do the same.
• Effective communication with others inside and outside of the business, assisting with technical problem solving.
• The ability to present confidently to internal and external stakeholders on technical matters, often representing the company.
• Can lead projects and deliver results in the required time frames.
• Patent applications.
• Developing and working to budgets.

About You:

• Honours degree in a physical science discipline: chemistry, physics, biochemistry.
• Experience working in a lab.
• Previous supervisory or management experience.
• Knowledge of developing adhesives, inks and/or other surface coatings.
• Practical experience developing and manufacturing polymers is desirable.
• Flexibility and willingness to travel for short periods at a time as required.
