Paint Chemist

We are currently recruiting for a Chemist to join a leading coatings manufacturer based in Greater Manchester. As a Chemist, you will develop new coatings formulations, and re-formulate existing products to improve performance and reduce costs.

To be considered for this role, you will have a BSc in Chemistry or a related field, and ideally have previous experience in formulating surface coatings, preferably paints.

Key Responsibilities:

• Formulation of a wide range of decorative coatings, and small-scale coatings manufacture
• To undertake colour matching, value engineering, and undertake physical/chemical resistance testing of a wide range of coatings
• Maintain a clean and safe laboratory through daily housekeeping and adherence to 5S practices
• Investigate and formulate solutions to problems in production, the laboratory and the field, making recommendations to internal members of staff

Knowledge and Experience:

• Hold a BSc in Chemistry or a related field
• Knowledge of surface coatings, including formulation and application would be preferred but not essential
• Strong practical laboratory skills, including physical testing methods including viscosity testing
