Education Coordinator

The Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) seeks an Education Coordinator for Community Development on a full-time (35-hour week) permanent basis.

The role:

Working in the Education Community Development team you will help to develop and maintain new propositions and community networks for key audiences, with an initial focus on student and early career teachers. You will also support the delivery of education projects on a local basis across either the Midlands or South East England and will engage with our local members to act as advocates for chemistry, showcasing best practice in schools engagement activities.

What we are looking for: 

• A degree in science, preferably in the chemical sciences, or an equivalent qualification, together with evidence of working with schools, ideally with a teaching qualification.
• An understanding of school level, further and higher education, the teacher training and early career pathways and a breadth of knowledge of the education systems in the UK and Ireland.
• An understanding of customer requirements, including those of: school teachers; school students; FE teachers, HE academics and support staff; HE students; careers advisors; employers; governments and its agencies, and non-government bodies.
• Good project management, communication, team working and presentation skills and experience and the ability to work independently.
• Experience of stakeholder relationship management.

As an organisation we are currently embracing hybrid working, and you can be based at our London office or homeworking/remote working in the UK could be considered for this role. Applicants should be aware that there is an expectation that employees will attend the office and travel as needed for their role. This role will require extensive travel; visiting schools, working with members, meeting stakeholders and attending events across the Midlands or South East England. This may involve weekends and non-core working hours.
