Job Details

THE UNIVERSITY OF LIVERPOOL
Faculty Of Science and Engineering
School Of Physical Sciences
Department of Chemistry

We invite applications for a Lecturer (Teaching & Research) in the School of Physical Science who will be based in either the Chemistry or Physics Department. The School of Physical Sciences provides an outstanding environment for interdisciplinary research where we tackle some of society’s biggest challenges. This is done through our Stephenson Institute for Renewable Energies (SIRE), our Materials Innovation Factory (MIF), and many other research initiatives involving several departments. SIRE opened in 2013 as a Physics-Chemistry centre and consists of five purpose-built laboratories equipped to support the broad spectrum of research into energy materials, including photovoltaics, energy materials, battery research in collaboration with the Faraday Institution, fundamental electrochemistry and Nanomaterials Characterisation. Founded on strategic partnerships between the University, Unilever and UKRI, MIF is dedicated to accelerating and transforming academic and industrial R&D for computer aided materials science and opened in 2017. MIF houses a large range of shared equipment and facilities for synthesis and characterisation, and is available to academics in the Faculty though a ticketing scheme. Both departments drive cutting edge research and innovation in data science and artificial intelligence research, e.g. in the Centre for Doctoral Training in Data Intensive Science (LIV.DAT) and the Leverhulme Centre for Functional Materials Design. We seek to appoint a lecturer whose research, theoretical or experimental, is in one of our identified priority at the interface between Chemistry and Physics: Renewable energy or Innovative Materials.

Applications are invited from candidates who can demonstrate an excellent research profile, as evidenced by publications in leading academic journals and other esteem factors. The successful candidate will be expected to teach a range of lectures, laboratory classes and tutorials. Exact teaching duties as well as the most appropriate grade within the advertised range will be agreed on the basis of background, experience and ability.
