An exciting opportunity has become available for a motivated chemist to join our expanding team located in Grove, Oxfordshire, UK.

Role and Responsibilities

The role is laboratory based and the successful candidate is expected to join a small dynamic team working in a fast-paced environment. The principal responsibilities of the role include:

• To design, synthesise and test new products based on PhosphonicS core technology
• To support technical development projects, contributing ideas to progress these from scientific literature and own experience
• To evaluate the performance of existing products in a range of customer samples to devise cost effective solutions
• To prepare technical proposals for customer projects and write up scientific reports on evaluation of customer samples for use by the commercial team
• To take part in other company projects and initiatives as required

Skills, Experience and Competencies

Training will be provided across the range of techniques commonly used at PhosphonicS, so specific experience, although advantageous, is not a pre-requisite. Candidates are expected to have the following:

• Good BSc/MSc in chemistry or related subject with 3+ years experience in an industrial research lab or, a PhD in chemistry, with a focus on synthesis
• Experience of working safely in a laboratory setting using conventional synthetic chemical laboratory techniques Hands on experience with analytical techniques and product characterisation e.g., NMR, MS, ICP
• Experience in the preparation of technical reports. Good communication and presentation skills
• A self-driven and conscientious mindset with a proven capability of working with some autonomy, as well as within a team
• A track record of building strong relationships within teams and an ambition to take on new responsibilities
• An enthusiasm for science and with a willingness to learn new skills and test new technologies
• Good working knowledge of MS Office
• Eligibility to work full time in the UK
