Lead Cheminformatician

CK Group are currently recruiting for a Lead Cheminformatician to join on established research team with a growing biotechnology company. This role is offered on a permanent basis and based near Macclesfield and Knutsford (Cheshire).

The Company:
The aim of the company is to accelerate innovative drug discovery and collaborate with academia and industry to develop new approaches for discovering the medicines of the future. 

The Role:
The Lead Cheminformatician will advance the scientific contribution of cheminformatics within the business and provide expert insight into the cheminformatics practical needs of the Discovery lab scientists, developing innovative cheminformatics solutions to accelerate the sectors success of developing new therapeutics.

Responsibilities will include to:
-Shape the scientific contribution, including line management responsibility, from the cheminformaticians working across multiple internal and external translational science projects.
-Lead the cheminformatics strategy of the company.
-Develop collaborative innovation in partnership with world class lab scientists and work with strategic collaborators to develop cheminformatics solutions. 
-Work with the business engagement team to develop and support business opportunities.

Your Background:
-A PhD in a relevant area of computational chemistry, cheminformatics or equivalent degree, along with extensive experience in academic or industrial drug discovery. 
-Proven ability in leading and coaching individuals and teams, and in advancing matrix team success.
-Expert understanding of drug action, pharmacology and the drug discovery process, ideally covering both small molecule therapeutics and biological therapeutics. 
-Experience gathering requirements, developing software, managing databases, analysing data to provide cheminformatics solutions.
-Expertise in cheminformatics analyses techniques and key application areas – covering areas such as target analysis, drug properties and databases, lead optimisation and predictive ADMET.
