Senior/Principal Scientist - RNA Biology

We are currently looking for an experience RNA Biologist to join a cutting edge RNA Therapeutic Biotechnology company based in the Cambridge area. This novel Biotech are developing never seen before RNA Therapeutics that when bind to mRNA, can upregulate protein expression with unprecedented control and specificity. This novel technology with its unique mechanism of action has the potential to revolutionise the RNA Therapeutic space and offers a unique solution to hard-to-treat diseases and has a broad range of applications.

My client is looking to 2 two new RNA Biologists to their growing team and are looking for experience at Senior Scientist or Principal Scientist level. This position does not require previous industry experience (although desirable) but requires the successful scientists to be focused and passionate about RNA Biology with a driven and hard working nature and ability to be innovative.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Your duties as the Senior/Principal Scientist - RNA Biology will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. Utilise you extensive experience of RNA Biology to develop in vitro assays and molecular Biology techniques to research the RNA structure-function relationship, RNA-protein interactions and Ribonucleoprotein function.

2. Investigate consequences of post-translational modifications using cell-based systems and Next Generation RNA-seq technologies.

3. Maintain a high level of productivity in the lab by interacting effectively with cross-functional team members across multiple fields, including RNA biology, biochemistry, cell biology, and bioinformatics.

4. Execute high-quality work, demonstrating an excellent attention to detail and proactively take ownership of his work in relation to company research goals.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Senior/Principal Scientist - RNA Biology we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. Relevant PhD in the field of Biology, ideally with a focus on RNA Biology in addition to post-doctoral research in to the field.

2. A strong background in RNA Biology including but not limited to RNA:RNA and RNA:Protein interactions; post-translational RNA Modification; RNA Metabolism; RNA structural modelling; RNA delivery.

3. Proficiency with in vitro transcription / translation systems and cell based reporter assays as well as genome-wide RNA sequencing and technologies including transcriptomics.
