CK Group are recruiting for a Research & Development Manager to join a chemicals manufacturing company in the construction industry at their site based in Belper, on a full time permanent basis.

The Company:
Our client is a well-established chemicals manufacturing company and they now have a vacancy for an experienced R&D Manager, who will be responsible for lab technicians and a chemist and will also oversee engineers and technically trained personnel. The company offers a salary in the region of £50,000-£60,000pa for this role depending on experience. Reporting to the R&D Director, the R&D Manager will be responsible for research activities on new and existing products as well as identifying and implementing new technologies. This will involve overseeing product performance requirements, predictive testing, product formulations, and supervising the R&D link to plant processing associated with manufacturing and assembling products and overseeing design and performance for all manufactured and marketed products and systems.

Location:
This role is located in Belper, commutable from Derby and surrounding areas.

Research & Development Manager Role:
Your main duties will be to:
-Lead the group that has the responsibility for the development, maintenance and performance for supported products. Products include Silane terminated Polyether based sealants and coatings, silicone sealants and coatings, epoxy sealants, polysulphide sealants, and other sealants, primers, cleaners and accessories.
-Work with the Sales and Marketing, Warranty, Purchasing Departments to define project priorities, project scope and future development directions.
-Support the entire R&D group, other divisions and customers by answering questions, assisting with testing, evaluating materials or systems, or providing any other assistance needed.
-Lead group into new product and technology development, process or equipment analysis and development for products supported.

Your Background:
The ideal candidate for this role will have the following skills and experience:
• Polymer science knowledge including silicone, Silane Terminated PE, polyurethane, epoxy and water-based technologies
• Adhesive, sealant and coating processing technologies experience
• Knowledge of engineering principles related to roofing, sealants, coatings and waterproofing
• Familiar with testing techniques for sealants and water proofing products and applications
• Comfortable with industry standards for sealants, coatings and waterproofing
