CK Group are recruiting for a Research Scientist (In vitro Pharmacology/Biochemistry) to join a to join a global pharmaceutical company, based in Slough on a contract basis initially for 12 months.

Salary:

£15.79 per hour PAYE minimum

Research Scientist/Associate Role:

  • Develop and perform biochemical protein binding assays (FRET and FP, etc) and cellular ligand-receptor binding assays and cell based functional assays (gene reporter assays, ELISA, HTRF, etc)
  • Use assays to screen small molecules, biologics and new therapeutic modalities
  • Use liquid handling robotics and screening equipment (e.g. microplate readers, flow cytometers, high content imagers)
  • Explore and validate new technologies

Research Associate background:

  • BSc/MSc (or equivalent) in pharmacology, biochemistry or a relevant field, plus 1-2 years of post-graduate or industrial experience
  • Knowledge and practical experience of in-vitro plate-based assays
  • Knowledge of and experience using statistical analysis software and curve fitting.
  • Trained in good sterile technique and practiced in tissue culture.
  • Ability to work independently but also as part of a team with strong communication and presentation skills

Research Scientist background:

  • PhD in pharmacology, biochemistry or a relevant field, or a BSc/MSc plus substantial post-graduate or industrial experience
  • Knowledge and practical experience of in-vitro plate-based assays including some of the following; protein binding assays (FRET, FP), cell based binding assays, cell based functional assays
  • Experience developing and validating biochemical or cell-based assays
  • Knowledge of and experience using appropriate statistical methods and data processing software, including curve fitting and statistical analysis
  • Trained in good sterile technique and practiced in tissue culture
  • Ability to work independently but also as part of a team with strong communication and presentation skills
