Do you have experience in in particle and powder characterisation, and want to join a renowned global biotechnology organisation?

We are looking for a Senior or Principal Scientist to join their R&D group and join the Advanced Materials Characterisation and Investigation group leading the global analytical investigations and characterisation for small molecule R&D and commercial product portfolio. Better yet, you get to work in the beautiful town of Antwerp, Belgium, with flexibility with homeworking to fit your needs.

Main Duties

  • You will continuously evaluate analytical characterisation strategies in order to provide the best support possible to the project teams in CMC development.
  • You will bring strong expertise in analytical techniques in the area of particle and powder characterisation and relating these to product and process performance.
  • Be spokesperson for projects in scope of Continuous manufacturing (Oral solids) and take the lead in progressing the Materials Property database and integration with relevant process information.
  • Responsible for Academic collaboration & internal innovation; incl. identification of opportunities, prioritization in objectives in line with CMC development objectives up to research proposal submission & funding
  • Prepare CAPEX investment plans to consolidate (and expand) capabilities.
  • You will design, set up and perform experiments in the lab and will ensure integration of the results and meet project deliverables.
  • You will interact with internal stakeholders and work with them in cross-functional Chemical Development, Drug Product Development, and Analytical Development teams.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Chemical (Bio)Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Physics, or equivalent by experience with M.Sc. degree in a relevant area.
  • Experience in particle sizing technologies such as Laser diffraction and Microscopy (Image analysis). Understanding of relation of particle properties to bulk behaviour and process ability of materials up to product quality level meeting the desired critical quality attributes.
  • Knowledge on characterisation approach of powder behaviour (such as powder flow, shear testing, triboelectrification properties, etc.)
  • Knowledge on statistical methodologies PCA/PLS, cfr. link to material property database is an advantage.
  • Experience/Knowledge of crystallization and/or pharmaceutical formulation and process development processes is a plus.
  • You have good project management skills as well as communication skills (oral and written) allowing effective interactions with all levels of the organization.
  • You are a team player, able to work in dynamic and diverse environment
  • Fluent English (both spoken and written).
