Job Details

The Research and Applications Scientist will join CCDC’s newly formed Computational and Data Sciences team responsible for developing the science to support integration of state-of-the-art computational chemistry (e.g., crystal structure prediction) outputs with data-based insights. The successful applicant will help to develop the science behind the CCDC’s newest software suite, CSD-Theory, combining computational chemistry and data-driven (informatics-based) approaches to guide the discovery of new materials. This position will require the post holder to work alongside in-house experts and leading industrial and academic partners to develop new and innovate ways to derive information from a database of computed structures.

The Research and Applications Scientist will also provide scientific support to CCDC’s commercial activities surrounding CSD-Theory, including sales opportunities and customer support, and ensure alignment of the scientific strategy for CSD-Theory to customer feedback. It is anticipated that the post holder will have a good working knowledge of Python and solid-state computational chemistry to support the links between informatics and calculation. Applicants to this Cambridge UK-based post must also have excellent oral and written communication skills to share findings with the multi-disciplinary teams at the CCDC and our customers through presentations, reports, and peer reviewed publications.

For further details on this position, please see the full Job Description and Person Specification as detailed on the Careers page of the CCDC website.
