Materials and Characterisation Scientist

Location: Reading/Basingstoke area

Salary: £25,850 - £35,000 (dependent on skills and experience)

Working within the Materials and Analytical Sciences (MAS) Sub-Function, this role will give you the opportunity to apply your expertise analysing the physical and chemical properties of materials in a wide range of environments, and work alongside materials modellers to develop life prediction models.

We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates with hands-on experience of working in a laboratory environment. The following skills and experience are desirable:

  • Degree or equivalent level knowledge/experience of a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Chemistry or Materials Science).

  • Good oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work as part of a team.

  • Interest/experience in working with materials of different types including polymers, ceramics and/or metals.

  • Interest/experience in a range of experimental techniques for chemical analysis (e.g., molecular spectroscopy, thermal methods and electrochemistry).

Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role and be willing and able to work in designated areas.
