At the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), we publish the new research that is a catalyst for the chemistry that enriches our world. Collaboration is essential. We connect scientists with each other and society, so they can do their best work and make discoveries and innovation happen.

We develop, recognise and celebrate professional capabilities. We bring people together to spark new ideas and new partnerships. We support teachers to inspire future generations of scientists. And we speak up to influence the people making decisions that affect us all.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to act as a platform manager for an exciting new development at the RSC, guiding solutions for the organisation’s professional development capabilities.

As a Platform Manager for the RSC’s Professional Development Programme, you will be responsible for the creation, maintenance and development of processes to ensure that systems are being used to their full potential and are in-line with business needs. You will also ensure that professional development tools are linked, considering how these can be linked to the wider RSC estate, and delivered in a timely and effective manner, ensuring that a high level of customer service is always delivered.

You will coordinate all professional development ICT projects as well as liaise with third party providers/contractors and ensure that their commitments are fulfilled. You will also be responsible for data across professional development platforms and will work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure data integrity is always maintained.

We are looking for:

Essential:

  • Educated to relevant degree level or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of technology platforms.
  • Experience in accessing requirements specifications.
  • Experience in establishing quality services from external suppliers.
  • Good communication and teamworking skills across multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to identify a range of options and opportunities for cost containment.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of professional bodies and/or not-for-profit organisations.
  • Specialist knowledge or exposure to project processes.
  • Experience in project management and ICT processes.
  • An understanding or knowledge of best practice in project coordination and appropriate methods.

At the Royal Society of Chemistry, we support development and offer excellent benefits.

This is a temporary (six-month) full-time (35-hour week) position, contractually based at our Cambridge office, however we are currently in a period of piloting hybrid working, and you may be able to work from a location other than this, as agreed with your line manager. Applicants should be aware that there is an expectation that employees will attend the offices as needed for their role.

If interested, please apply before the end of our closing date.
