Faculty Position in Quantum, Topological, and Nano Materials at the Ecole polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL)
The School of Engineering at EPFL invites applications for a tenure track assistant professor position in quantum, topological, and/or nano materials within its Institute of Materials. We seek exceptional applicants who will develop and drive a research program at the forefront of the field, who have strong commitment to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and who will be proactive members of their professional and university communities.
We have a keen interest in outstanding candidates whose research is dedicated to the experimental synthesis, discovery, characterization, or engineering of materials and devices whose properties are driven by novel, emergent, or unconventional effects; by dimensionality reduction; or by hitherto unexplored couplings of different excitations. Applications can range from quantum technologies to information processing, from energy harvesting to multi-functional materials.
As a faculty member of the School of Engineering the successful candidate will be expected to initiate
an independent and creative research program and participate in undergraduate and graduate teaching. Internationally competitive salaries and start-up resources, together with sustained internal funding and benefits are offered.
Applications should include 1) a cover letter with a statement of motivation (one to two pages), 2) curriculum vitae, 3) research plans (up to five pages), 4) teaching interests and plans (up to two pages), 5) publications list, 6) names and contact information for three (min) to five (max) referees who are ready to supply a letter upon request. Applications containing these 6 items must be uploaded in PDF format to the recruitment web site:
The deadline for applications is
December 1st 2021, midnight Central European Time
Formal evaluation of candidates will begin soon afterwards; the committee reserves the right to consider or not consider post-deadline applications.
