Who we are looking for:

At Sellafield Ltd, innovation is in our DNA. It’s the platform for our rich and vibrant future. Building on the unique heritage in nuclear power production, we’re now striding into a pioneering new era. One where we’ll transform the environment, local society, the regional economy and the global nuclear industry. And that is where you come in.

We are currently looking to recruit Several Laboratory Analysts to work in our Analytical Services team. Sellafield Ltd Analytical Services facility was established in 1952 to provide an essential on-site capability for the chemical analysis of highly radioactive and toxic materials. It is one of the oldest buildings on site and houses over 90 separate laboratories. We analyse around 100,000 samples annually on a variety of radioactive sample types in different chemical forms including effluents, Plutonium products and complex wastes. Analysis is undertaken using a variety of specialised instruments on benches, in fume hoods and gloveboxes, or in highly active cells, dependent on the activity and type of material being analysed. The Analytical Services facility is considered essential to support operations, waste processing and hazard/risk reduction activities across the site.

About the role:

Your day-to-day duties will include but not limited to carrying out a range of analytical techniques on samples across the Sellafield site from simple wet chemical techniques to complex instrumentation including spectroscopy, chromatography and radiometric techniques. All training will be provided in both controlled area working and standard laboratory operations.

Hear from one of the team:

Liam, Laboratory Analyst at Sellafield Ltd:

What advice would you give to somebody considering this role as a career?
