Senior Scientist - Gene Editing

We are currently looking for a Senior Scientist - Gene Editing to join a developing Biotech company focused on researching first-in-class Cancer Therapies targeted against immune cells, based in the Edinburgh area. As the Senior Scientist - Gene Editing you will be responsible for the identification of novel targets and development of their innovative platform.

As the Senior Scientist - Gene Editing you will use your years of experience and own initiative to develop high throughput functional genomic cell assays to assess proof of concept of their technologies. You will act as lead on projects and will support the group through junior team member supervision.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Your duties as the Senior Scientist - Gene Editing will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. Design, conduct and report on a range of scientific experiments for drug development projects including the development of high through-put screen platforms.

2. Collaborate with internal and external colleagues where you can contribute ideas and help shape the future of the project

3. Prepare high quality packages and reports to discuss results with key stakeholders.

4. Act as subject matter expert in the are of Gene Editing with a specific focus on CRISPR and RNAi techniques.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Senior Scientist - Gene Editing we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. Relevant PhD in Immunology or related discipline in addition to post graduate experience, ideally in the area of genome engineering.

2. Proven experience with CRISPR and/or siRNA or shRNA for gene editing. Ideally with experience of different transgene delivery methods including but not limited to Transfection, electroporation, lentiviral infection etc. all within mammalian cells.

3. A working knowledge and practical experience with a range of molecular Biology techniques such as DNA, RNA and Protein extraction, PCR and RT-qPCR as well as more cellular assays such as IHC, Flow cytometry and fluorescent microscopy.
