We are currently looking for a Upstream Senior Scientist to join a leading CDMO company based in the Staffordshire area. As the Upstream Senior Scientist you will be responsible for upstream process development and optimisation of viral vectors to larger scale.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Your duties as the Upstream Senior Scientist will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. Working with upstream process development from lab scale to small scale bioreactors up to 10L across different platform for mammalian cell culture such as HEK293 and CHO cells.

2. Training more junior members of staff on lab techniques such as the use of bioreactors, cell culture and transfections.

3. As a Upstream Senior Scientist, you will support the scale up and tech transfer team of bioprocesses from lab scale to GMP manufacturing.

4. Working on viral vector process development and usp with AAVs, lenti viral vectors and retroviral vectors using mammalian cell culture.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Upstream Senior Scientist we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. Relevant degree in a a life sciences degree such as biochemistry, biotechnology, or biochemical engineering etc...

2. Proven industry and laboratory experience in working with upstream processing of viral vectors (AAVs, lentiviral) and mammalian cell cultures (HEK or CHO cells).

3. A working knowledge and practical experience with using small scale bioreactors from lab scale to 10- 15L.
