This is a senior positions with client facing and line management responsibility and will suit an experienced NGS scientist, ideally with experience of 16S sequencing and Mi-Seq.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Your duties as the Senior Scientist - NGS will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:
1. Experience with developing Next Generation Sequencing protocols with a focus on Microbial Genome sequencing and the Skin Microbiome.
2. Development of molecular techniques such as PCR and RT-qPCR.
3. Line management of 2 junior staff members and ensure they are trained and supported
4. Help buy in equipment and maintain the lab to a high standard ensuring all quality standards are met.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS:
To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Senior Scientist - NGS we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:
1. Relevant degree in a Life Sciences discipline in addition to extensive experience with Molecular Biology techniques (PCR, RT-qPCR etc.) as well as Next Generation Sequencing (Miseq) and 16S Sequencing.
2. Proven industry experience in Library preparation and running of NGS, ideally the Illumina MiSeq platform as well as 16S sequencing of bacteria.
3. A working knowledge and practical experience with human skin samples would be beneficial and knowledge of skin biology desirable.
