Site Chemist
Job Details
Natalie Wood is recruiting for a Site Chemist to join a waste management company at their site in West Yorkshire on a full time, permanent basis. Please note that this role will eventually be working in the outdoors in all weather conditions.
The main purpose of your role will be to ensure the operation of the hazardous waste transfer station,being able to receive and dispatch loads, ensuring Security, Technical, Health & Safety and Environmental compliance, whilst showing continuous improvement in productivity, commercial performance & resource availability.
Further responsibilities of this Site Chemist will be:
-Providing technical assistance for clients and other company personnel
-Ensuring paperwork for incoming and outgoing wastes are compliant and correctly completed within 24 hours of receipt of waste, barring non conformances
-Ensuring all wastes are handled in a safe and compliant manner
-Ensuring the safe and timely checking of incoming and outgoing wastes
-Ensuring all wastes are stored in compliance with HSG71 and locations recorded
-Ensuring maximum profitability is achieved by bulking/re-packing of waste and that this is carried out in a safe and timely manner and all relevant paperwork is completed
-Ensuring non-conformances are raised upon receipt and rectified within 5 days
-Ensuring all wastes are added to outgoing disposal lists upon receipt, to allow waste to be sent to approved disposal sites and reduce use of transfer stations
-Assisting the Transfer Station Manager in achieving optimum site performance, security and housekeeping
-Assisting the Transfer Station Manager in controlling material flows through the site and ensuring container stocks are maintained to ensure delays and backlogs are minimised
-Maintaining a high level of housekeeping in all areas and ensure any housekeeping activities are carried out in an effective and timely manner
-Ensuring compliance with all company policy, process and procedures
-Carrying out any other such reasonable job related tasks as the company may require you to undertake from time to time
As a Site Chemist, you will have the following qualifications, skills and experience:
-HNC or equivalent qualification in Chemistry, or higher - essential requirement (degree preferred)
-Driving license - essential requirement
-To be able to communicate effectively with individuals and groups - both written and oral
-A high level of commitment, the ability to work under pressure and meet strict customer and company deadlines
-IT literate - comfortable using business software and systems
-Ability to deal with conflict and negotiate / manage the appropriate outcome
-Good time management skills
-Organised with the ability to simplify complex issues
