Job Details
This position would suit and experienced In Vivo scientist with a current, personal Home Office Licence (PIL A, B, C) and the hands on experience with model development.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Your duties as the Research Scientist - In Vivo will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:
1. You will work closely with Preclinical and Translational teams to deliver on a number of projects focused on the assessment of Ophthalmology Gene Therapies.
2. Establish models of retinal disease, including but not limited to, laser-induced choroidal neovascularisation rodent models.
3. Perform animal procedures, including but not limited to: intraocular delivery (subretinal, intravitreal), inlife imaging (fundus imaging, OCT, fluorescence angiography), in line with agreed timelines and the 3Rs.
4. Process ocular tissue samples for downstream analysis, including molecular, biochemical and immunohistochemical assays.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS:
To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Research Scientist - In Vivo we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:
1. Relevant MSc / PhD in Biological Sciences, ideally with a focus on Ophthalmology or Neuroscience in addition to extensive academic experience or experience within Industry
2. Proven industry experience in a Non-Clinical environment where have you been hands on with animal models, ideally Retinal models where you have experienced intraocular delivery of drugs, including subretinal and intravitreal delivery and non-clinical inlife ocular imaging (OCT, Fundus biomicroscopy, fluorescence angiography).
3. A working knowledge and practical experience with tissueisolation, handlingandprocessing for histology and immunohistochemistry, including microdissection, fixation,microtome and cryostatsectioning,staining and immunolabeling.
