We have an exciting opportunity available for an Operations Manager to join a growing biotechnology company based in the Hertfordshire area. The company are currently establishing a GMP manufacturing operation to provide manufacturing capacity to Phase 1 and Phase 2 operations.

As the Operations Manager you will support all site functions with regards to facilities administration, equipment and asset management, management of IT providers and lead site health and safety matters. This position offers an exciting opportunity to join the team at an early stage.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Your duties as the Operations Manager will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. Manage the GMP and non-GMP facilities at Stevenage to provide a safe and productive working environment for all staff, contractors and visitors. Support ongoing activities for Production, QC, QA and Supply Chain functions to ensure day-to-day running of operations meet manufacturing schedules.

2. Act as the primary interface with partners facilities and engineering teams. Lead facility expansion and improvement projects to agreed schedules and act as the primary interface with landlords and third parties involved in build programs.

3. Oversee asset management to include equipment metrology scheduling and execution, planned maintenance and repair with suppliers and service providers. Maintain asset lists for all equipment and liaise with the finance team to meet company policies and compliance requirements.

4. Act as a technical expert for cleanroom and laboratory design and operation and support manufacturing and QC teams in investigations and CAPAs.

5. Act as the Health and Safety representative for the company as required by the UK Health and Safety Executive and chair company health and safety meetings. Manage external Health and Safety consultants and provide appropriate training and support for all staff.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Operations Manager we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. Relevant degree in biological sciences or related field and significant experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or biologics operations and facilities management.

2. Proven industry experience and ability to apply GMPs in conformance with FDA, MHRA, EU and ICH standards. In addition, you should also be able to demonstrate experience and knowledge in dealing with Health and Safety issues.

3. You will be comfortable in a fast-paced small company environment with minimal direction.
