Analytical Sales Specialist

Verulam Scientific are an expanding specialist sales and service company offering state of the art analytical instruments for laboratory environments. We offer HPLC systems and analytical instrumentation from leading European and US manufacturers.  Due to new opportunities we have an exciting vacancy for a trainee technical sales engineer. This role would suit a qualified chemist who would like to move on from a laboratory-based position and into a field based technical sales role. After training you will work under your own initiative to develop business in the company portfolio.

Experienced analytical sales representatives are also invited to apply.

Products: Electrochemical detectors and reactors, MALDI imaging instruments, Robotic SPE systems, Sample clean-up systems, GPC and HPLC systems, and post column reactors.

Territory would be Southern England and Wales primarily around the home counties. We would expect your time to be divided 60% field work and 40% office based.

Responsibilities:

• Effective customer relationship management in a broad base of industries and applications.
• Direct responsibility for sales negotiations and liaison with manufacturers.
• Support the development of customer applications.
• Participation at conferences and exhibitions.
• Support the development of marketing communications with customers.
• Visiting customer sites on a regular basis to give sales presentations, perform instrument demonstrations and support customers on the use of their equipment.
• Development of new business ventures.

Requirements:

• Suitable candidates should hold a degree (or equivalent) in chemistry, biology or related discipline.
• At least two years of experience of successfully selling/supporting analytical instruments.
• Good communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of scientific staff.
• Availability to travel throughout the area and occasionally overseas for training and business meetings.
• Centrally located in the territory within easy access to main road network.
