Job Details

The Royal Society of Chemistry has an opportunity for a Membership Development & Recruitment Executive to join us on a permanent full-time basis. You will be based at our Cambridge Science Park office (free onsite parking and close to the guided busway and Cambridge North train station), with UK and international travel.

The Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) is the world’s leading chemistry community and the UK’s professional body for chemical scientists - connecting the world of science to advance chemical knowledge for a better future.

As a Membership Development & Recruitment Executive for the RSC, you will plan and deliver new and enhanced products and services that support the development of our members and positively impact both recruitment and retention activities.

As the RSC’s Membership Development & Recruitment Executive, you will identify new membership recruitment opportunities and audiences, leading the development of projects that improve the RSC’s membership offering and supporting our Membership Development & Recruitment Specialist in identifying and developing new engagement areas. This may involve supporting new services and products, within the UK and internationally, and working with colleagues within our membership teams to ensure that our membership value proposition is fit for purpose. To ensure that our approach is evidence led, you will also be responsible for delivering audience insight with support from wider RSC teams and will be seen as an expert in member needs within the organisation.

In this hands-on role you will support recruitment and retention activities by undertaking recruitment visits and attending engagement events within academia and industry. You will also be responsible for maintaining professional standards through the evaluation of non-standard transcript assessments to support the deliberations of the RSC Admissions Committee.

We are looking for:

  • A degree in the chemical sciences.
  • Able to develop a comprehensive understanding of the needs of RSC members.
  • An awareness of the range of organisations that employ and engage with chemical scientists.
  • Experience in a customer focused environment.
  • An understanding of the global chemical science environment and issues which may affect or be relevant to our member community.
  • An ability to deliver effective member growth and influence joining decisions.
  • Proven team working, negotiating and influencing skills.
  • Able to make informed assessments and analysis.
  • Good communication and public speaking skills.
  • Able to interact and network competently with RSC colleagues, members and peers at other professional bodies.
  • Able to provide reasoned opinion and objective advice to colleagues and members.

The Royal Society of Chemistry supports development and offers excellent benefits.

If this sounds of interest, please apply before the end of our closing date.
