KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Your duties as the Microbiology Laboratory Supervisor will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:
1. Organising, training, supervising and mentoring a team of laboratory analysts in a range of microbiological and QC techniques.
2. Handling of reference and working cultures for QC, and preparation of microbiological growth medium. Additionally, you will be expected to carry out relevant daily checks and ensure that the laboratory meets requirements of accreditation at all times.
3. Reading of plates and recording, reporting and interpretation of results, and recording any non-conformances appropriately and reporting to Lab Management. As the Microbiology Laboratory Supervisor you will additionally participate in Laboratory Continuous Improvement Team meetings and quality meetings. You will also assist with internal and external audits.
4. Calibration of laboratory equipment and general laboratory stock control and ordering.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS:
To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Microbiology Laboratory Supervisor we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:
1. Minimum of a HND in a biological sciences discipline (or equivalent).
2. Proven industry experience in a food testing laboratory, with strong organisational, leadership and communication skills.
