Location: Reading/ Basingstoke area

Do you have experience in Finite Element Modelling and/or computer programming in Python? If so, we would like to hear from you.



Would you like to use your skills to play a key role in developing and understanding explosive materials? If so, AWE has an excellent opportunity to allow a scientist to develop their technical knowledge and expertise in the field of mechanical properties of energetic materials.



Applying your expertise, you will have the chance to be involved in the design, implementation and execution, of bespoke mechanical testing procedures/experiments, data analysis and to work collaboratively on external projects.



It is desirable that you can demonstrate the following:

  • Degree level knowledge and or experience in a relevant scientific discipline such as Chemistry or Chemical engineering
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, verbal and written
  • Broad experience developing materials using a range of different processing techniques
  • Experience in decision making and problem solving in a technical environment
  • Understanding of working with hazardous materials
  • Computer programming in Python would be desirable




Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role and be willing and able to work in designated areas.
