We are currently looking for an experienced and ambitious Senior Scientist - Neuroscience to join a leading life sciences company based in the Edinburgh area. Our client are known for offering specialist preclinical contract research services to Pharmaceutical & Biotechnology companies focussed on Immuno-Oncology, Immunology, Neuroscience and specialised multiplex Histology.

As the Senior Scientist - Neuroscience you will be responsible primarily for research into assay development and client project delivery within the field of neuroscience and neurodegeneration (focussing on Stroke, Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease).


Your duties as the Senior Scientist - Neuroscience will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. Producing and maintaining primary cell cultures and cell lines. Additionally, utilising molecular and cellular biology, protein biochemistry and functional neuroscience background to develop, validate and run assays. Accurate record-keeping and data analysis.

2. Active reviewing and analysis of scientific literature to understand relevant therapeutic targets with relation to individual projects.

3. Working as part of the company team and with academic contacts and clients to ensure delivery of high quality client projects, including implementing quality control steps and developing and updating SOPs.

4. Taking an active role in nurturing new and expanding client relationships, including presenting at conferences to capture new commercial opportunities.

5. As the Senior Scientist - Neuroscience, you will line manage Scientists and delegate project tasks across the team to ensure accurate and timely delivery of client data and reports.


To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Senior Scientist - Neuroscience we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. A degree (ideally PhD) in a relevant life sciences discipline, ideally within Neuroscience plus significant relevant industry experience working in a CRO/Pharma/Biotech setting.

2. Evidence of a strong conceptual understanding of the field, with demonstrable laboratory experience within cellular and molecular biology.

3. Conference presentation and client discussion experience would be advantageous.
