As an Intern, you will work both with a team, and independently, to undertake a range of routine and investigative analyses. There may also be opportunities to assist in the development of new, bespoke analytical methods. You will also develop expertise in a range of analytical methods and laboratory equipment such as HPLC, IC, HunterLab Colourimeter, and UV-Vis spectroscopy.

Product Ingredient Innovation (PII)

PII formulates, develops and optimises products to meet product development and innovation briefs for Mondelēz International and clients from the external food industry. As an intern you will work as part of a team and independently on a wide range of different products including; bakery, beverages, confectionery, dairy and more. You will develop your knowledge of ingredients and processes and help us to support our clients to take new products to the market.

Physical Sciences

The physical properties of food and pharmaceutical products are of vital importance in predicting and optimising quality and behaviour during processing and storage. As an Intern in this area, you will perform a wide range of analyses both with a team and independently on products from the food, pharmaceutical and healthcare industries for our clients. You will develop expertise in analytical methods and operation of laboratory equipment including Karl Fischer, Malvern Mastersizer, mechanical sieving and texture analysers.

Food Internship: We consider the following degree types: Food Science, Food Technology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Nutrition, Physical Sciences, Physics, Chemical Engineering and Material Sciences.

INVESTIGATIVE ANALYSIS INTERNSHIP

Microscopy

The Microscopy group carries out investigative analysis to support our foreign body identification and product contamination services. They also carry out routine and bespoke pharmacopoeia testing. An intern in this role would be expected to develop expertise in analytical techniques including light microscopy, FT-IR spectroscopy, Scanning Electron Microscopy, X-ray microanalysis and microfluorescence.

Bioinformatics

The DNA and Protein laboratory is developing a new area of analysis using Next Generation Sequencing (NGS). NGS would be an extension of the DNA analysis portfolio we are carrying on in the lab. As an intern you will develop expertise in using your bioinformatics skills to develop databases and workflows to analyse high-throughput data generated from the sequencing analysis. The NGS bioinformatics tools you will learn to develop will include de novo assembly, SNPs and whole genome MLST on small genomes. In addition you will gain technical experience in preparing NGS libraries and running sequencing analysis, and there are potential opportunities to gain expertise in a range of different DNA-based analytical methods.

Investigative Analysis Internship: We consider the following degree types: Biology,  Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Forensics and Material Sciences.

PHARMACEUTICAL INTERNSHIP

Metals

The Metals group undertake a wide range of analytical contracts for a variety of healthcare, food and pharmaceutical companies as well as supporting Mondelēz International research and innovation. As an Intern you will conduct sample preparation (e.g. ashing and microwave digestion) and undertake analyses using a range of spectroscopy techniques (including AAS, ICP-OES, ICP-MS).

Pharmaceutical Microbiology

The Pharmaceutical Microbiology team supports the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries with a wide range of microbiological tests. Working to current GMP standards, the laboratory undertakes a number of pharmacopeial testing. As an intern in this laboratory, you will gain technical experience in using aseptic technics to perform tests like Microbial Limits test and Bioburden test. In addition, you will develop relevant technical skills by being part of a team that performs a range of microbiological analyses like Endotoxin analysis, Preservative Efficacy test, Disinfection test, and Bacterial identification.

Pharmaceutical Chemistry

The Pharmaceutical chemistry team performs a range of routine and specialised analyses for a variety of pharmaceutical and healthcare companies. You will learn to work to GMP standards in our compliant laboratory (inspected by the MHRA and FDA), to perform routine testing of pharmaceutical raw materials against the pharmacopoeia and client methods.  In addition you will develop expertise in a range of analytical methods and operation of laboratory equipment. You will be required to manage your time effectively in this high throughput environment.

Pharmaceutical Internship: We consider the following degree types: Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Pharmaceutical Science, and Forensics.
