  • Updating and maintaining standards associated with Chartered Chemist within a framework and increasing support mechanisms for this award alongside the Professional Standards Specialist.
  • Advising various stakeholders and external partners (e.g. universities, applicants, CChem candidates, colleagues) on RSC qualifying processes.

The RSC is the world’s leading chemistry community, an internationally-renowned publisher of high quality chemical science knowledge and the professional body for chemists in the UK. We connect the world of science to advance chemical knowledge for a better future.

  • Able to develop a comprehensive understanding of degree courses and qualifications in chemical sciences.
  • An awareness of the range of universities offering chemical science programmes.
  • Able to apply own knowledge critically and to evaluate data relating to education and training in an accurate and equitable manner.
  • Able to interact and network competently with RSC colleagues, members on committees, senior university staff, employers of chemists and peers at other professional bodies.
  • Able to pursue strategic projects that enhance RSC qualifying standards.
  • Able to identify and drive forward opportunities for improvement to established processes and procedures.
  • Able to guide external bodies (e.g. licensing bodies, companies) on how their education and training provision can map to RSC qualifying standards.
  • Able to provide reasoned opinion and objective advice to applicants / assessors and mentors on Chartered qualifying aspects.

Desirable:

  • Broad knowledge of overseas qualifications to be seen as an expert in this field to ensure UK undergraduate education is appropriate.
