We are currently looking for a Senior Downstream Process Scientist to join a leading biopharmaceutical company based in the Staffordshire area. As the Senior Downstream Process Scientist you will be responsible for the development of downstream process in the manufacture of biologic products.


Your duties as the Senior Downstream Process Scientist will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. You will contribute to the deign and planning of the downstream processes, then lead the execution of the process development and transfer to client or internal R&D department.

2. As the Senior Downstream Process Scientist, you will support the transfer of downstream processes into GMP across all sites or to external clients.

3. It will be your responsibility to interpret data, impact assessments and provide recommendations for development and scale-up.

4. You will be involved in the development of viral purification, using AKTA chromatography.


To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Senior Downstream Process Scientist we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. A relevant degree or PhD in a biologic subject (e.g. Biology, Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Science, Biochemistry, Virology, etc.) is necessary.

2. Proven industry experience in a GMP biologic or biotechnology setting is required for this role. Having experience with biomolecules and viral products is highly advantageous.

3. A working knowledge and practical experience with AKTA systems is strongly desirable.
