AWE are currently recruiting for a Senior Materials and Analytical Scientist



This role will be to provide extensive technical knowledge and expertise in the field of materials and chemical science in order to lead and deliver the programme and collaborative projects, in a cost effective, quality conscious, safe and secure manner.



Location - Reading area

Package - £42,000 - £62,000 dependent on experience

Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

· Analyse, characterise and assess samples using agreed analytical procedures and processes

· Support the development of the technical strategy

· Provide technical judgement to support Company programme/project decisions

· Technically review programme/project deliverables to ensure that the required quality standards are met

· Plan technical projects, programmes and trials

· Support the development of less experienced team members by mentoring and critiquing

· Support continuous improvement activities within the local area



To be successful in this role you should have some of the following skills:



· Expertise in one or more areas in the field of chemical or materials science with a record of delivery

· Ability to provide technical leadership and direction for local teams

· Excellent communication skills, both written and oral

· Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team

· Experience working in a laboratory (or similar) environment

· Experience in decision making and problem solving in a technical environment

· Experience in research and development in a science related area



Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role and be willing and able to work in designated areas.
