Departmental Lecturer in Inorganic Chemistry in association with The Queen’s College and other colleges

Applications are invited for the post of Departmental Lecturer in Inorganic Chemistry in association with the Queen’s College and other colleges under the direction of the Head of Inorganic Chemistry and the Associate Head of Department (Teaching).

The successful applicant will be expected to deliver tutorial teaching in Inorganic Chemistry for the participating colleges - initially The Queen’s College (full tutorial load, encompassing year 1, 2 and 3 undergraduates), Magdalen College, Jesus College and Lady Margaret Hall (half tutorial loads at each).

The post-holder will assist with administrative and pastoral matters, and with undergraduate admissions for chemistry students at the Queen’s College. The successful applicant will also hold a lectureship position at the Queen’s College. In addition, out of full term, they will be expected to contribute to the design, implementation and optimization of new graduate courses to be given by the EPSRC/Oxford Centre for Doctoral Training in Inorganic Chemistry for Future Manufacturing (OxICFM) and to outreach activities under the direction of the Director of the CDT.

The successful applicant will have a PhD/DPhil in Inorganic Chemistry or a closely related subject (or have submitted a thesis for the award of same). They will be able to demonstrate excellence in the teaching of inorganic chemistry at undergraduate level (including tutorial and class teaching) and have a track record of innovation in the teaching of inorganic chemistry. In addition to excellent communication, organisational and time management skills, they will demonstrate sufficient depth and breadth of knowledge in the subject to develop novel course materials and methodologies at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

This is a full-time, fixed-term post available for 5 years.

The post will be based in the Inorganic Chemistry Laboratory, South Parks Road, Oxford, OX1 3QR.
