We are currently looking for a Research Scientist to join a leading Life Science Research Organisation based in the Cambridgeshire area. As the Research Scientist you will be responsible for disease specific assay development for the screening of novel anaerobic bacteria in vitro.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Your duties as the Research Scientist will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. You will develop and execute microbiological assays to characterisation isolates of novel bacterium as well as develop and implement molecular assays.

2. To assess the efficiency of bacterial strains in vitro, you will develop high throughput screening assays.

3. As the Research Scientist you will be the expert in bacterial physiology and provide expertise to support other departments.

4. Assessing novel bacterial isolate by characterisation methods to understand their suitability as a live bacterial therapeutic will be a crucial aspect of your role.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Research Scientist we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. Relevant PhD in Microbiology or a related discipline and proven experience developing high throughput screening assays is essential to your application.

2. Proven industry experience working with anaerobic bacteria and bacteria-host interaction assessment is essential to your application.

3. A working knowledge and practical experience with analytical method development and validation in a drug development environment would be highly desirable to your application.
