We are currently looking for a Characterisation Research Scientist to join a leading Biopharmaceutical company based in the Berkshire area. As the Characterisation Research Scientist, you will be responsible for incorporating comprehensive detailed characterisation of proteins to elucidate their structure, function and degradation pathways as well as understanding protein production processes.


Your duties as the Characterisation Research Scientist will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. As the Characterisation Research Scientist, you will be responsible for supporting characterisation using analytical ultracentrifugation including CD, FTIR and NMR.

2. You will be responsible for working closely with method development, quality control process and formulation groups and you will be using a variety of techniques, such as, HPLC (reversed phase, ion exchange, affinity and size exclusion), electrophoresis (gel and capillary based), spectroscopy (CD, FTIR), Analytical ultracentrifugation (XLI and OPTIMA).

3. As the Characterisation Research Scientist, you will be responsible for tackling complex scientific problems, analytical issues and learning about industrial and regulatory guidelines.

4. You will be responsible for using Mass Spectrometry and BIAcore analysis to interpret data.


To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Characterisation Research Scientist, we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. Relevant PhD in a Biological Science or equivalent is desirable but not essential

2. Proven industry experience in a Biopharmaceutical company, preferably to GMP standards is desirable but not essential.

3. A working knowledge and practical experience using Proteins / Antibodies is essential.
