Senior QC Laboratory Analyst / Team Leader – Pharmaceuticals                                                      

Role: Full-time, permanent

The Role:

Due to significant company growth, we’re seeking additional meticulous and methodical Senior QC Laboratory Analysts to manage a team of QC Analysts in developing, testing, and analysing our products. These include solid oral dose and effervescent tablet formats, along with speciality medicaments such as potent drugs. In this demanding and varied role, you’ll work closely with other departments to understand our production requirements and to plan the timely testing of our product batches across your team to ensure our production and testing schedules are met. Working collaboratively with the wider QC department you’ll oversee method validations, method developments, method transfers and our stability testing programme, as well as the analysis of a variety of samples including APIs, intermediates and finished products using HPLC, FTIR, UV/VIS and GC techniques. All testing is conducted to meet MHRA and GMP compliance standards and as such you’ll ensure your team are trained appropriately, follow processes and instructions closely and that accurate records and documents are maintained at all times. You’ll also take ownership for the preparation of our method transfers and stability protocols, along with the calibration of laboratory instruments including Qualification, preventative maintenance and technical troubleshooting. In addition, you’ll have the opportunity to support cross-functional and departmental projects (including investigations into OOS and OOT reports) and proactively drive our continuous improvement initiatives to support best practice working.

The Person:

With significant experience in a similar role within a pharmaceutical GMP compliant analytical lab, you’ll have a good knowledge of EU quality regulations and strong experience across the testing methods listed above. Experience of conducting self-inspections, Quality based investigations, root cause analyses would be also be advantageous. With excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you’re confident liaising with all levels of authority, can navigate cultural differences with ease, and value working in multi-disciplinary teams. As an experienced Senior Analyst / Team Leader / Trainer, you enjoy building effective teams and sharing your knowledge to improve results, but are also comfortable having more difficult conversations, when required.

With strong organisation and administration skills, you make good decisions, have a strong eye for detail and can prioritise a busy workload to meet deadlines. A degree-level qualification in Chemistry (with additional industry experience) is essential for this role, as are good IT skills, with a particular focus on Microsoft Office – ideally with advanced Excel skills.
