Role - Craft Engineering Specialists - Electrical and Mechanical

Location - Reading area

AWE are currently seeking to hire a number of experienced Electrical and Mechanical Craft Specialists and are interested to hear from Engineers (across various technical disciplines) looking for their next opportunity. Supporting the UK's Continuous At Sea Deterrence programme and national nuclear security are at the heart of what we do, therefore working with us is both exciting and challenging - in fact it's everything you would expect from a company that supports national security.

Within this position you will take a lead role in the implementation of safe systems of work and work instructions, demonstrating understanding, competence and adherence to all relevant legislative and company standards within area of responsibility. As a subject matter expert within your technical field you will have an in-depth working knowledge of building services, plant, equipment and processes. You should also have detailed knowledge and working experience of fault finding techniques and methodologies.

As a specialist you will be required to work in a professional and flexible manner across a variety of locations to meet the programme and company needs, and help to lead the team in adopting the company values.

To be considered for this position you will need the following:

  • Engineering Apprenticeship with a minimum NVQ/Diploma Level 3 in relevant discipline or NVQ/Diploma Level 2 plus industrial experience
  • Extensive competency in a single specialism or capability to work across a range of disciplines or work areas
  • Ability to work as a lead team member including coaching other engineers in specialised roles
  • Basic computer literacy to utilise relevant business systems (e.g. Asset Management System)
  • Good interpersonal skills, written and verbal


Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance.
