QC Team Leader

We are currently looking for a QC Team Leader to join the Biochemistry team in a leading Biopharmaceutical company based in the West Sussex area. As the QC Biochemistry Team Leader you will be responsible for leading, organising and managing a team of QC scientists in order to ensure safe release of products to the market.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Your duties as the QC Biochemistry Team Leader will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. You will be required to organise the management of work within the QC Biochemistry Team while also carrying out all tasks as requested by the QC Manager. In the absence of the QC Manager, their key tasks will be picked up by yourself.

2. It will be your duty to ensure QC Scientists are briefed on urgent samples, procedure updates and issues after attending daily scheduled meetings when required. Other meeting may include presenting for key projects.

3. As the QC Team Leader, you will work closely with the Development team on projects and issues. It will be you responsibility to manage personnel issues in line with Company policies and ensure an effective team environment.

4. You will effectively manage the performance of the QC team and carry out performance reviews with the team member through regular feedback meetings.

5. Practically, you will carry out testing of raw materials, environmental samples, environmental monitoring, intermediates or finished products when required. This may also involve completing analysis while following SOPs and analytical methods. Records will be maintained and validated on assay sheets and the LIMS system.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the QC Biochemistry Team Leader we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. A relevant undergraduate and/or masters degree in a a scientific subject (e.g. Biochemistry, Biology, Pharmacology, Life Sciences, Immunology, Molecular Biology, etc.) is essential for this position. Further management training would be highly beneficial (e.g. ILM, CMI, CIPD, OU course, etc.)

2. Proven industry experience in a GMP pharmaceutical environment is necessary, most importantly within an analytical department. Previous QC experience and an understanding of the regulatory requirements is also beneficial, especially within a supervisory and/or management position.

3. A working knowledge and practical experience with biochemistry techniques such as ELISA and SDS-Page is necessary. Further knowledge into the mechanics of allergies and immune responses is highly desirable.
