Are you an experienced microbiologist with a background in food analysis looking to take the next step in your career?

We are currently looking for a Microbiology Technical Lead to join a growing CRO based in the Cambridgeshire area. As the Microbiology Technical Lead you will be responsible for the development and validation of procedures and techniques in a busy microbiology lab.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Your duties as the Technical Lead - Microbiology will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. You will be responsible for troubleshooting, validation and improvement of microbial and analytical methods. You will be responsible for setting up new microbiology instruments in the lab, and any troubleshooting or maintenance of these instruments. You will communicate the effectiveness of these instruments to the management team.

2. You will be responsible for reviewing current methods against ISO, M&S and TLAS standards, and support of the improvement and development of new and existing SOPs. You will work with the Section Manager to ensure all technical workflow is running at optimal efficiency.

3. You will be responsible for performing technical reviews of microbiology QC data and analytical results, and investigating OOS results. You will liaise with the QC Manager in dealing with non-conformities associated to raw data or laboratory processes.

4. You will interpret test results to customers and assist with any queries or technical advice. You will offer advice to customers on the results provided and isolate any potential issues.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Microbiology Technical Lead we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. Relevant degree in Microbiology or a similar subject plus significant experience gained in a CRO environment in a microbiology lab.

2. You will be required to demonstrate experience carrying out microbiology analysis, checking results and quality assurance, ideally on food samples, in a regulated testing environment. As this role is based within a fast-paced high throughput environment, you will be expected to demonstrate experience in a similar environment.

3. You will have practical experience with a wide range of microbiology testing techniques typical to the microbial analysis of food samples, for example TVCs and pathogen testing.
