Hyper Recruitment Solutions are currently supporting a key client in their search for a Principal Scientist - Regulatory Bioanalysis to join their facility based in the Dundee area. The Principal Scientist - Regulatory Bioanalysis will play a pivotal role in the Drug Discovery and Development side of the business.

It is expected that this role would lead and manage the regulatory bioanalytical (LC-MS, LC-MS/MS, GC-MS, HPLC, GC and LBA) studies across all sites that offer regulatory bioanalytical services. Reporting directly to and working with the Group Head of Bioanalysis and DMPK, the successful incumbent would help grow and develop the strategy for development for all elements of regulatory bioanalysis (GLP/GCP in vivo and in vitro studies) for integrated services and well as standalone services that support the client base.

It is expected that this role would work very closely with Team Leader of Analytical Sciences (Dundee), Business Development (BD) and Quality Assurance to ensure that work is resourced and executed to the highest scientific and regulatory standards. The successful incumbent will also be expected to work with operational management and senior management on the strategic development of the business.

Your duties as the Principal Scientist - Regulatory Bioanalysis will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. Act as Study Director, Principal Investigator or Analytical Phase Manager (where appropriate) for regulatory studies (GLP and clinical bioanalysis).

2. Act as laboratory leader and train all other members of the Bioanalysis and DMPK group across all sites to be able to develop and validate chromatographic (LC-MS, LC-MS/MS, GC-MS, HPLC and GC) and ligand binding methods for support of studies to current industry and regulatory (FDA/EMEA) standards

3. Lead and author scientific publications as well as the review of SOPs and other business process documents.

4. Act as an ambassador for the business and in doing so proactively promoting the company brand and values both internally and externally.

5. Pro-actively identify opportunities for continuous improvement, profitability, quality and efficient ways of working.

6. Assist with analysis planning and defining the scope of analysis in relation to instruments available. You will work with the Team Leader of Analytical Sciences (Dundee) and other Principal Scientists in reviewing instrument resource planning and utilisation in the labs.


To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Principal Scientist - Regulatory Bioanalysis we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. Educated to degree level (minimum) in a chemistry related discipline. Higher degree (Master or Doctorate) in related discipline highly advantageous. In addition to this, extensive knowledge and experience of chromatographic and mass spectrometric techniques in support of bioanalysis studies essential.

2. Experience of acting as Study Director, Principal Investigator and/or Analytical Phase Manager essential. You should have gained this experience supporting bioanalytical studies within a regulatory framework.

3. This is a Senior Level post within the business and will require strategic input and guidance from the post holder. Therefore, we will be looking to identify high-level interpersonal skills, influencing and negotiation skills and robust time management capabilty. We would also expect you to demonstrate knowledge of market conditions, opportunities and competition.
