A fantastic opportunity has become available for an API Operations Manager to join a leading pharmaceutical business based in the Kent area. As the API Operations Manager you will be responsible for managing an API production plant, ensuring production targets are achieved while maintaining strict compliance with all regulatory imperatives.


Your duties as the API Operations Manager will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as following:

1. Ensure that API Operations not only adhere to all safe work requirements but that a culture and environment of safety exists within the API area at all levels. Also Ensures that plant activity is compliant with all regulatory imperatives, i.e. safety, environmental, GMP and regulatory.

2. Carries out thorough investigations into incidents and accidents and instigates corrective actions as appropriate. Supports investigations into failures and other process events.

3. Ensures that GMP and housekeeping standards are maintained on the plant and puts controls in place to ensure that these standards are met consistently.

4. Ensures that all plant practices are covered and controlled by operating procedures and that all operating personnel are trained and assessed on all relevant procedures.

5. Manages the APl production team ensuring that production teams are appropriately resourced, trained and briefed regarding plant activity and departmental goals. Manages the performance of the production team, setting goals and related KPI's, monitoring and correcting performance as appropriate.

6. Drives the Continuous Improvement Strategy by applying the various principles of Continuous Improvement and teamwork on site.

7. Monitors plant progress against the plan daily and facilitates the changes required in order to stay on plan.

8. Supports the validation of new equipment by carrying out necessary activity to complete DQ's, IQs, OQ's and PQ's.

9. Liaises with ancillary departments in coordinating appropriate support levels for the plant.


To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the API Operations Manager we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. Relevant degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a Science related discipline..

2. Proven industry and management experience in within the Pharmaceutical or Fine Chemical production environment, specifically working with API's.

3. A working knowledge and awareness of the higher hazards posed by operation and maintenance activities on a CoMAH site. Knowledge of higher integrity management systems needed to ensure safe operation of a CoMAH site.
