We are currently looking for a Technical Director to join a rapidly growing life sciences company. Location is flexible as regular travel across UK sites will be required.

As the Technical Director you will be responsible for technical leadership, mentoring and coaching for operational analytical teams and enable the delivery of complex projects across a range of areas including life sciences, food & consumer services, industrial and environmental services.

You will be the Technical leader for the Analytical & Development Services group of laboratories, providing leadership and sector specific knowledge to influence the future direction of the company.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Your duties as the Technical Director will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. Responsible for the overall technical competence of the Laboratories, having a direct input to technical quality matters whilst acting as the UKAS technical manager' for the division.

2. Acting as the internal point of contact for all technical matters and policy within the division.

3. Planning, overseeing and directing all method development within the sections, including cross validations, and re-validations and reviewing all methods and ensuring compliance with ISO 17025.

4. Looking at process and method efficiencies, and implementing new technology and approaches to existing tests. Investigating new and emerging business streams.

5. Take a leading role representing the company at external meetings, presenting at conferences and events.

6. Provide technical justification on new purchases of instrumentation to ensure best practice and sound investment is maintained.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Technical Director we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. A minimum of a degree in Chemistry, with a strong bias in Analytical Chemistry. You will also require significant experience working within an ISO17025 regulated testing facility.

2. As this is a Director level role, you will be expected to have held a similar level of technical responsibility in a previous role.

3. You will be responsible for managing a group of laboratories across the UK and you will be expected to travel. Therefore we are looking for someone who can be flexible to travel within the UK when needed.
