We are currently looking for a Flow Cytometry Specialist to join a Government Funded Research Lab based in the Cambridgeshire area. As the Flow Cytometry Specialist you will join the Cell Biology team in the East England arm of the National Measurements Laboratory where you will deliver on a diverse range of metrology research to improve the understanding of Cell-based measurements, specifically in the Cell Therapy sector.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Your duties as the Flow Cytometry Research Scientist will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. You will optimise rare cell detection, single cell measurements, cell function / identify measurements and cell therapy product quality assessment where your results will be published to aid the work of Academic labs and Biotechnology companies around the world.

2. You will develop methods and analytical assays to deliver complex Flow Cytometry analysis.

3. Train and assist junior members in Flow Cytometry and FACS techniques.

4. You will publish and present your scientific developments to the wider scientific community in leading publications and at conferences.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Flow Cytometry Specialist we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. Relevant degree in a Life Sciences discipline (e.g. Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry etc.) where there was a strong focus on research using Flow Cytometry. Post-doctoral experience is desired but not required.

2. Proven industry experience in using Flow Cytometry is a must, ideally using BD analysers (Fortessa and Canto II) and sorters (BD FACs Melody) and associated software packages. Experience with Microscopy techniques and tissue processing would also be desirable and cell culture experience would benefit your application.

3. A working knowledge and practical experience working in a deadline driven environment will benefit your application and a proven track record of publications of your academic would help in this fantastic opportunity.
