We are currently looking for a Data Scientist to join the formulation division of a leading life science organisation based in the Sedgefield, Durham area. As the Data Scientist you will be responsible for

Your duties as the Data Scientist will be to Prepare, test, develop, analyse and research elements in Data Science and develop new and improve existing research methodology in line with Formulation strategy and industry needs in order to gain insight into new developments and contribute to the realisation of project objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Identify new developments and trends through analysis of data with markets and internal customers, translate these into Formulations building blocks and opportunities in the area of Data Science and initiate the creation of technological innovations/applications.

2. Discussing project needs; set up, plan and execute scientific experiments and analyse, interpret and report results to agreed time-scales.

3. Oversee the development and maintenance of Data Science software/hardware to ensure it operates in a safe and efficient manner and is available to meet customer needs.

4. Work with the Scientists and become the key informatics contact ensuring software is collecting the right data.


To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Data Scientist we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. Candidates should be educated to Degree level (or equivalent) in Chemistry / Biology / Physics / Mathematics or related subject, or possess equivalent experience in Data Science, preferably having had industrial experience in the Data Science area in one of the formulation sectors.

2. Proven industry experience using either JMP, SPSS, Unscrambler or Simca and programming in Python, R or Matlab.

3. A working knowledge and practical experience with informatics and data analysis
