We are currently working with a growing life sciences company in their search for a Group Health and Safety Manager. This is a newly created role within the business, offering flexibility on location.

The Group Health and Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring all work undertaken is completed to current legislation, delivered safely and all employees, customers and members of the public are not exposed to any health or safety issues.

We will be looking for candidates with experience in some of the following areas: Health and Safety, Line Management, Laboratory, Auditing, HSE, NEBOSH, IOSH, CMIOSH


Your duties as the Group Health and Safety Manager will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. Provide health and safety advice and also environmental advice and guidance to the Group including the implementation of policies. Provide competent health and safety advice to all employees and managers on their duties and responsibilities with regard to health and safety.

2. Manage a team of health and safety supervisors/managers.

3. Drive the development, implementation and monitoring of the strategic health and safety plan. Identify and provide the appropriate training and development for staff at all levels to enable them to meet the needs of the business and meet the legislative requirements relating to competence in health and safety in their respective area of operation.

4. Continually review the health and safety management systems and procedures operated throughout the Group and amend/improve where required. Carry out accident/incident investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions. Advise on a range of specialist areas including fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise and occupational diseases.

5. Arrange regular visits to all UK sites, ensuring that all employees and sub-contractors are adhering to health and safety standards and managing any issues that occur. This will mean regular travel across the UK and Northern Ireland.


To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Group Health and Safety Manager we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. Relevant degree in a Science or Engineering based discipline, plus significant experience working in a Health and Safety role within a regulated laboratory environment.

2. Professional Health, Safety, and Environment certification(s) are preferred, specifically NEBOSH National Diploma, NCRQ in applied Health and Safety, IEMA Diploma in Environmental Management. Minimum holder of Grad IOSH Status, CMIOSH Preferred.

3. Radiation Protection experience.

4. Hold a valid, clean UK driving licence as the post holder will need to travel across all UK sites.

5. Flexibility is required, some weekend work may be needed and earlier or later start and finish times may also be required.
